Michael Wynar is a prominent Bay Area musician and educator. Having honed his skills in jazz, soul, and funk while at Northern Illinois University, Michael has since become an in-demand session player who has collaborated with Grammy-winner Jody Watley, George Clinton, and graced the stage of the Montreal Jazz Festival.
Since moving to the Bay Area in 2006, he’s established a significant musical footprint: teaching, initiating the GrooveLab after-school program, and performing at iconic venues like The Great American Music Hall and Fox Theater. In the summer of 2022, Michael played at the Monterey Jazz festival with bay area band Sal’s Greenhouse. Michael continues to be an active musician within the bay area music scene and currently plays with Sal’s Greenhouse, Uncle Los Music, Agape Soul, Tosin Aribisala and many other artists.
