Matt Sickels is a professional guitarist with almost 30 years experience, based out of North Carolina. Born and raised in Akron Ohio where he was taught how to play first by his Grandmother Emma at the age of 11. Matt went on to make a name for himself playing gigs with his Dad’s band as well as performing with a child prodigy drummer, his brother Fred.

Since graduating from the Atlanta institute of music in 2008, Matt has been a full time musician and educator in North Carolina. After playing in the usual local bands/music scene of NC and the east coast for many years, Matt took the internet by storm in 2016 with his solo guitar videos as well as his guest solo on “Tidal Motion” (by John Ray). Shortly after he signed with Jam Track Central roster as an instructor alongside guitarists Guthrie Govan, Tom Quayle, Josh Smith to name a few.

Matt was also a featured artist in the 2017, 2023, and 2024 International Musicians Summit in North Carolina, performing among players such great friends Daniel Seriff, Seth Rosenbloom, as well as Tom Quayle, Ben Lacey, Mark Lettieri, Isaiah Sharkey, Josh Smith, Kirk Fletcher, and many more of the best guitarists in the world.

Now a “Sonora Guitar Mastery Intensive” mentor and highly respected guitarist among the world's best, Matt is focusing solely on his original works and teaching. Looking forward to what comes next in his music career.

“Matt is among the rare hat trick players. Whether he’s blazing on dirt, a thoughtful jazz improviser, or now his newly acquired solo guitar acumen with high level delivery of the essence of a tune on one instrument, it seems there’s nothing he can’t hurdle. Clearly a man on a mission with a perpetual thirst for challenge.”

— Ben Lacy, World-renown solo guitarist
